Deuteronomy 11:11-12 (NIV)
… the land you are … to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.
I believe Moses’ description of the Promised Land is parallel to what I might see if permitted to gaze into the future. The coming year is a “land” to be taken and possessed for the glory of God. “Promised” does not mean it will come easy. It is a land of mountains and valleys – highs and lows – no two days exactly alike. But there will be an outpouring and refreshing of the Spirit from Heaven. It will be under God’s care from the first day to the last. I can move into the new year seeing it as a land filled with God’s promise, provision, and presence. I am expecting to take possession of it in His Name and for His glory. It will be a good year!
